Yemeni Latte
Baklava
I was eager to try Delah Coffee, a Yemeni coffee shop that recently opened on Grand between Broadway and Valley in Uptown Oakland. With a location in SoMa, this was Delah's first spot in the East Bay — apparently they will be one in Berkeley soon — which I was excited to visit in late May. They have an expansive menu of coffee made with a variety of spices, tea, and seriously beautiful pastries.
We tried a few things while there: the Yemeni latte and a slice of baklava. The Yemeni latte was served piping hot and was blended with a variety of spices that gave it a more dynamic flavor. I believe the baklava was good because it was eaten quickly; who doesn't love layers of phyllo dough, honey, and pistachios? I've since visited one more time, trying the Jubani: coffee made with ginger, cardamom, and cinnamon.
I will probably be returning in the future, preferably at a time when this very popular spot is a little less popular, so I can enjoy the full experience.
