Fried Chicken Sandwich made with free-range chicken in a berbere spice blend, celery, house-made apple slaw, mayo, and pickles on a freshly baked bun
I've tried The Bird, a popular fried chicken sandwich spot, a few times at their original location in SoMa on New Montgomery between Minna and Mission. This past week, I stopped by their pop-up at Super Duper Burgers on Telegraph and Durant, a block away from the UC Berkeley campus.
I ordered the Fried Chicken Sandwich with the regular spice blend (they also have a spicy version) and it was as good as I remember. The sandwich is made with free-range chicken that's fried and coated in their berbere spice blend. It's then topped with celery, house-made apple slaw, mayo, and pickles on a freshly baked bun. It has a good sized piece of chicken and the flavors are quite dynamic.
I would definitely stop by in the future. If you've tried The Bird, what do you recommend ordering?
