Breakfast Burrito made with carnitas, peppered bacon, eggs, cilantro, jalapeño, Swiss gouda, hash browns, black beans, and salsa
Potato Platter & Eggs with tomato, cheddar, avocado, cilantro, salsa, and sour cream, with bacon and toast on the side
In mid-March, my dining companion and I spent a few days exploring Sacramento, notably digging into their lovely and rather affordable restaurant scene. One day, we stopped by The Morning Fork, a bustling diner in Midtown on 21st near K, for breakfast.
I tried my signature order of a breakfast burrito. Theirs was a sophisticated spin on the classic breakfast item: it came with carnitas, peppered bacon, eggs, cilantro, jalapeño, Swiss gouda, hash browns, black beans, and salsa. The gouda provided a nice sweetness that was countered with the bitter arugula, adding further dimension to the usual ingredients of potatoes, eggs, and some kinda of meat. My dining companion tried the Potato Platter & Eggs with tomato, cheddar, avocado, cilantro, salsa, and sour cream, with bacon and toast on the side, which he also enjoyed. Both were huge portions, so we departed with leftovers we were happy to eat later.
With delicious food and great service, The Morning Fork is definitely a spot I'd return to when I'm in town. If you've been there, what did you try?
