Eat in Berkeley: sweetgreen

Hello Portobello salad made with organic wild rice, shredded kale, raw beets, bean sprouts, basil, spicy sunflower seeds, roasted portobello mushroom mix, and miso sesame ginger vinaigrette

This past weekend I tried sweetgreen, a new salad shop that opened in the building previously occupied by Oscar's, on Shattuck and Hearst in Berkeley. Sweetgreen serves a wide selection of salads in multiple locations across several states.

I ordered the Hello Portobello salad made with organic wild rice, shredded kale, raw beets, bean sprouts, basil, spicy sunflower seeds, roasted portobello mushroom mix, and miso sesame ginger vinaigrette. It was pretty good. All of the ingredients were fresh and dressed perfectly.

They gave the old Oscar's a facelift by adding a neon sign listing each of the seasons and al fresco seating. Since they just opened on April 19th, there might be a bit of a line out the door. It goes by pretty quickly and you'll soon be greeted by their friendly staff.

If you've visited sweetgreen, what did you try?
