Work It, Google: Lauren Vilders

Lauren's purple ring is from her grandmother, and her earrings and gold ring are by Loren Stewart.

Lauren is wearing a vintage dress from somewhere in the Mission, an Ever jacket, a Madewell belt, Miu Miu booties, and Forever 21 necklace.

What's your name?
Lauren Vilders

Where do you live?
Mission in San Francisco

What do you do at Google?
I’m a Strategist on the Audience Development team at YouTube. My team is all about empowering creators with the knowledge to build bigger, more engaged audiences on YouTube.

How would you describe your style?
Bohemian with a touch of rock n’ roll. I love to pair high end pieces with $7 vintage finds. I adore Alexa Chung -- in my mind, her style is always flawless.

What's your typical work outfit look like?
Like all good things, it depends. My only ever present accessory are my much-loved, long gold rod earrings from my cousin’s jewelry line, Loren Stewart.

I’m all about flat Frye boots, Levi's jeans, a t-shirt and leather jacket or a blazer depending on my mood. If I’m feeling more feminine, I go for a belted vintage floral dress, high heeled booties and a jean jacket.

How do you upgrade a typical work outfit?
I am a firm believer in lipstick. A bold, bright lip color can easily transform a boyish look into something chic and sophisticated.

Work It, Google: Rachel Lightfoot Melby

Rachel is wearing a vintage Indian tunic from Mercy Vintage, vintage boots from the Alameda Point Antiques Faire, thrifted earrings, rings from the Melrose Trading Post, and Todd Reed wedding band.

What's your name?
Rachel Lightfoot Melby

Where do you live?
North Oakland

What do you do at Google?
I'm a Senior Programming Strategist within YouTube's Next Lab. In short, I figure out what's working well for the top channels on YouTube, and help others achieve that success.

How would you describe your style?
Bold bohemian. I love to be comfortable, opting for wedges, skirts, and natural fabrics. I love shopping vintage (check out my new fav) and even find some of my best pieces at thrift shops and fleas. If I have a big meeting or presentation at work I try to confine my outfit to a more structured yet feminine silhouette.

What's your typical work outfit look like?
A bold a-line skirt with a solid color top to to tone it down, or vice versa. I buy a lot of basics from Anthropolgie and mix and match with my zanier pieces.

How do you upgrade a typical work outfit?
Color. Adding a bright color to anything shows confidence. If I'm feeling blah I'll put on something bright and bask in the extra attention. Before you know it I feel just as energetic as my favorite Peruvian pom-pom boots.

Want to see more photos of Rachel? Yes, ma'am!

Work It, Google: Donna

Donna is wearing a top from Thrift Town, Forever 21 pants, hand-me-down sweater, Bongo shoes, and earrings from Etsy.

What's your name? Where do you live? What do you do at Google?
My name's Donna. I'm from Santa Clara, but just moved to the Sunset District in SF. I work with Partner Ops for YouTube and Google Play.

How would you describe your style?
I'd like to call it pseudo-hipster wannabe gypsy. Just kidding...kind of. I enjoy fashion on a budget and treat thrift shop visits as treasure hunts. I'll take that 99 cent top and think, "Can I really make this work?" Yes, definitely yes.

What's your typical work outfit look like?
If I can get away with wearing pajama-esque pants at work, then it's a good day. Basically, I like to remain as comfortable as possible. Clothes that fit right, but also look right for the workplace. I'm a big denim jean hater, but jeggings, leggings, and genie pants? I'm all about that. I'm usually in dark casual cottons and though I'm not wearing it now, floral prints are my weakness.

How do you upgrade a typical work outfit?
This year I made an unofficial New Year's Resolution to wear accessories (why make a resolution that isn't fun to do?). Previously I wouldn't wear any, but my ears were pierced since I was little and look Ma, I'm putting it to good use! Usually it'll be a necklace or earrings, bracelets become annoying against your laptop while typing, remember comfort is key.

Work It, Google: Scottie Milagro

Scottie is wearing an AllSaints jacket, his boyfriend's old Ramones tee, Levi's jeans, Adidas high tops, Top Man socks, and a Mishka hat.

I'm excited to introduce you all to Scottie Milagro, a YouTuber through and through. Not only does he work at YouTube as a User Insights Strategist, he's also a spiffy vlogger himself. After reading his responses, you can learn more about his morning routine in the clever video below.

What's your name?
Scottie Milagro

Where do you live?
San Francisco, in the Castro

What do you do at Google?
User Insights Strategist (similar to user behavior research)

How would you describe your style?
Simple with an edge. I look for pieces that go beyond fads and throw in a statement piece or a few fun accessories to make it mine.

What's your typical work outfit look like?
Almost always Levi's and Adidas high tops. Then depending on who I'm meeting with that day I'll go between a light sweater or a cool button-down.

How do you upgrade a typical work outfit?
A great pair of shoes. I just got an awesome pair of vintage Hermès monkstraps from my favorite SF consignment shop, Sui Generis.

Want to see more photos of Scottie? The answer is yes.

Work It, Google: Charlene

On her left hand, Charlene is wearing a Burberry watch and rings by Aurelie Bidermann and Kate Spade.

Charlene is wearing a Cartier ring and bracelets by Vita Fede, Hermès, a Peruvian friendship bracelet, and Henri Bendel on her right hand.

Charlene is wearing an H&M jacket, Zara top, swank & Haight pants, Stuart Weitzman boots, and Ray-Ban sunglasses.

What's your name? Where do you live? What do you do at Google?
Hi! I’m Charlene, and I currently live in Burlingame, CA! I'm really happy to finally return to the Bay Area where I grew up after living on the East Coast for the past few years. I work for Google’s YouTube division as a Policy Enforcement Associate where I review live content for the site. While the job keeps me up to date on what’s trending in pop culture, I'm grateful for what an eye-opening experience it's been thus far -- keeping me well-informed on the world's daily issues by exposing me to racial prejudices, hate speech, and graphic violence plaguing our global community.

How would you describe your style?
I would describe my style as inspired. It’s classic, but has a bit of that “city chic” vibe as well. While I feel my look has been more “downtown” as of late, being rooted in the San Francisco Bay Area, I definitely take preppy influences in my wardrobe from my time back in Massachusetts. I love the “urban” look, taking inspiration from the cities in which I've immersed myself. I recently returned a few weeks ago from Europe, and I'm obsessed with the effortless street-style I've witnessed in both Paris and London. Now, I'm hoping to incorporate that into my  personal style as well. Overall, I would have to say my go to color is black. It’s always edgy, yet sophisticated! And definitely European ;).

What's your typical work outfit look like?
I dress for the season, so lately it’s all been about boots, whether it’s over-the-knee boots, riding boots, or ankle booties. I usually pair that with black skinny jeans or pants, and a blouse, but given the colder weather I’m usually wearing a jacket or sweater.

How do you upgrade a typical work outfit?
Accessories! I’m all about accessories. You know how people buy a souvenir whenever they travel? My go-to souvenir is a piece of jewelry. Constantly adding to my "arm party", I believe there's nothing better than a new bracelet to act as a reminder of a place I've visited. Accessories are the ultimate upgrade, whether it’s to make your outfit more bold with a statement necklace, or more casual with delicate ones. For the most part, I think I’m over the top with accessories, pairing my daily look with a chunky men’s watch and multiple rings, and I only add from there. I think because I gravitate towards wearing all black, I usually try to liven up my outfit with my accessories, a fun manicure, or with some pop of color.

Want to see more photos of Charlene? Of course, silly!

Work It, Google: Bethann Wagner

Bethann is wearing a BCBG blazer, a Collective Concepts dress, a pair of Coach boots, bracelets by Alex and Ani and Anthropologie, and a Michael Kors watch.

You may remember seeing Bethann Wagner as our mix master in June of last year. You may have read the day in the life spotlight she included me in last November on her style blog, Beth Animal Print. Now, I'm excited to share these photos I took of her. I hope you enjoy browsing through them as much as I enjoyed taking them.

What's your name? Where do you live? What do you do at Google?
I'm Bethann Wagner and I live in Mountain View. I work at YouTube as a New Partner Development Specialist.

How would you describe your style?
I am a jeans fanatic who mixes feminine and edgy details with more classic outfits.

What's your typical work outfit look like?
Dark jeans, a blouse and a structured blazer.

How do you upgrade a typical work outfit?
I'm all about accessories. A statement necklace or a pair of killer heels are simple ways to add visual interest and make old things look new.
