Work It, BARE: Stephen

What's your position/contribution to the magazine?
Photographer for the Cover, Americana and accessories photoshoots. Assisted with the 70's photoshoot. Photographed a few article pictures including that of Professor Grigsby and several local businesses.

What are you most excited about the new issue?
Being a photographer, I'm pretty biased and would have to say I'm looking forward to seeing the spreads. I've heard that BARE has produced many photoshoots this semester and am eager to see the final products. BARE has definitely evolved every semester and I can't wait to see how awesome issue 9 will be!

What are you planning on wearing to the BARE Launch Party?
I'll be pretty honest; I'm not a fashionista by any means, at least compared to many of the talented people in BARE. So I'm gonna have to consult with a few friends or stylists prior to the launch.

Check out the Facebook event for the Launch Party.

What's your position/contribution to the magazine?
I'm on the PR team. We've been responsible for promoting the magazine and the BARE name all over Berkeley and beyond. We've also worked a lot in conjunction with the Events team to promote BARE events this semester.

What are you most excited about the new issue?
I'm excited to see the new photography editorials! BARE Creative always has great and crazy ideas that look amazing in print.

What are you planning on wearing to the BARE Launch Party?
I'll probably wear a two-toned nude and black TNFC dress with black suede platforms wedges. And maybe black thigh highs if the weather keeps this up!

What's your position/contribution to the magazine?

I'm on the Creative and Blog teams and I do styling for the shoots. So far, I've only done one, but I'm super excited to do more next year and in the future! I was involved in the "Summer Daze" photo shoot led by Jonathan Rodriguez and Justine Carreon. And, to my surprise, I got to model too! :)

What are you most excited about the new issue?
I really want to see everyone else's hard work in their unique editorials. I'm super excited to see the rest of the Americana shoot. The cover looks amazing!

What are you planning on wearing to the BARE Launch Party?
Going to dig out from my closet a bunch of clothes, and just throw them on the day-of.. which is what I usually do. So it'll be a surprise. :)

Work It, BARE: John Kim

DWINELLE HALL
This is the sixth and final post of the "Work It, BARE" series, showcasing the styles of the students behind BARE Magazine. They have posed for you lovely readers in an effort to promote the Issue 7 Launch Party, which will be held tonight from 9pm to about midnight at Hotel Durant.

John Kim is the Editor-in-Chief of BARE. Along with Jordan Silver and Jonathan Deniol Rodriguez, he is one of the main forces behind the publication's success. Besides his role as the Anna Wintour of BARE, he has also written a few pieces for the blog, including a review of Elmwood Cafe, a popular piece on skirts for men, and a three day breakdown of his time at New York Fashion Week. You can read all of John's articles here.

When answering the question, "What Are You Wearing to the BARE Launch Party?" he could only give me a two-word clue, "faux leather." So far, the launch party is going to include sequins, a toga, something colorful, and now faux leather. This certainly sounds like an event only BARE could host.

Work It, BARE: Yael Levy

ARCHITECTS & ENGINEERS BUILDING
This is the fifth post in the "Work It, BARE" series, showcasing the styles of the students behind BARE Magazine. They have posed for you lovely readers in an effort to promote the Issue 7 Launch Party, which will be held tonight at 9pm to about midnight at Hotel Durant.

Yael Levy has participated in many aspects of Issue 7: she was the illustrator for "Who Wears the Pants?" an article discussing androgyny; the author of "Visit: A Peek at Piedmont," an article highlighting must-visit cafes, clothing, and book stores on Oakland's Piedmont Avenue; and she was on the production staff for "Runaway Bride," a hybrid photo shoot and fiction piece. She has also written a few pieces for the blog, including an article about Horse Feathers and another about a found art exhibit.

When answering the question, "What Are You Wearing to the BARE Launch Party?" Yael said she would wear "something more colorful than this outfit." Although a bit vague, I'm very interested to see what she picks out.

Work It, BARE: Jordan Silver

WHEELER HALL
This is the fourth post in the "Work It, BARE" series, showcasing the styles of the students behind BARE Magazine. They have posed for you lovely readers in an effort to promote the Issue 7 Launch Party, which will be held tomorrow at 9pm to about midnight at Hotel Durant.

Besides being no stranger to this blog, Jordan Silver is one of the Creative Directors for BARE. Like Jonathan Deniol Rodriguez, he is one of the core people responsible for the magazine's success. He also frequently writes insightful pieces for the BARE blog, including a recap of BAREing It All, a review of Roberto Cavalli's Fall 2010 menswear line, and a review of "A Single Man." You can read all of his work here.

Work It, BARE: Xiaoqian Lim

CALIFORNIA HALL
This is the third post in the "Work It, BARE" series, featuring the students behind BARE Magazine. They have volunteered to strut their stuff in an effort to promote BARE's biggest event of the semester, the Issue 7 Launch Party, which will be held this Thursday from 9pm to about midnight at Hotel Durant.

Along with fellow vintage clothing fiend Miraya Berke, Xiaoqian Lim explores Berkeley's best thrift stores for BARE blog. Her other articles include the street styles of WonderCon, a restaurant review of Gather, and a couple of reviews about local art exhibits. You can read all of her work here.

When answering the question, "What Are You Wearing to the BARE Launch Party?" Xiaoqian said "maybe a toga" because she's headed to a toga party right after. I asked her if she meant a toga made from a bed sheet and she responded with something along the lines of, "Well, what else would I make it with?" since she doesn't have a comparable, one shoulder dress. Hmm, it should be interesting to see how she pulls this off.
