What’s your name? Where do you live? What do you do? 
Hi, there! I'm Chanda from the blog, pancakeSTACKER. I live in San Francisco, but I'm not going to tell you which neighborhood, because I get judged for that, ha. I work for a PR / digital media agency, where I handle social strategies, digital marketing campaigns, influencer relations, and all that good stuff for brands.

How did you get into blogging? 
I started blogging way back when in the yonder years of Xanga. Back then (high school) my blog was my online diary. When I hit college, it turned into a home decor (or dorm decor?) sounding board. Then when I graduated college in 2010, pancakeSTACKER came about and became the space where I explored my passion for food and fashion. I've always loved writing and creating, so blogging has always been kind of second nature for me. It's crazy to look back and see how far it's all come.

How would you describe your style? 
As a "fashion" blogger, I get this question a lot. I never have a good answer for it, which makes me question if the term "fashion blogger" really describes me. But, since you asked, I guess you could say my style is relatable, casual, and comfortable. I just wear what I like and when it works out, I consider that a win, ha.

How has living in San Francisco influenced your style? 
I used to dress up a lot back when I was in college and lived in LA. People in SF tend to dress down a bit more. So, wearing heels around town isn't really that practical. Don't get me wrong, though - I still own countless amounts of heels, but my sneaker and boot game has definitely gone up a notch or two. LA was easy - it was warm, flat and "glamorous" to some extent. San Francisco is temperamental, hilly, but beautiful in its own way. I have way more jackets and pairs of pants than I ever did before, and I like to think that I've mastered the art of casual chic.

What do you like the most about blogging? 
I love that I have been able to meet and connect with so many different people. The readers, bloggers, the photographers, the brands - all the people, really. I've been fortunate enough to have worked with a range of creative souls.

What have you learned from blogging? 
Ah, a lot. It's been a wild ride in the path to discovering myself - is that too deep? Seriously, though. I started my blog right after graduating college as an attempt to figure it all out. Five years later and I'm still doing that. It's been a constant discovery of my own personal style, my likes, dislikes, etc. Blogging helped me figure out how to turn my passion into a career - I owe so much of my professional career path to my blog.

How has blogging changed since you started five years ago? 
When I started blogging, it was a genuine community. Not saying that it isn't anymore, but I've seen some of that community dissolve with the rise of monetization. I'm very supportive and happy for those who have been able to make a full time career out of blogging - it's a really powerful example of social influence. And, I'd be calling the pot black if I didn't acknowledge that I've been able to reap some of the benefits of that particular change in blogging. However, I do miss when blogging was more about the genuine expression of creativity without the influence of monetary gain. As someone who works in the space full time, I obviously find it very fascinating, but I sometimes have a hard time relating with the blogs I once used to love. It's really a catch-22. Of course, I don't want to sound at all ungrateful for the countless opportunities that I've been given thanks to blogging, so hopefully it doesn't come across in that way. I guess to sum it up, the rise of blogging as a business has been both a good and bad thing. I, for one, can't wait to see where it goes next...

What can we expect to see from you in the future? 
Perhaps the toughest question in the bunch. I've been "pancake" for five years and while I love my little space on the web, I've been itching to figure out what's next. Because so much of blogging is filtered, I'm actually hoping to bring mine back to its roots... à la my Xanga days. I still want to show off the pretty pictures, but I think I'm interested in the happy medium between "journaling" and curated content. I don't know if any of that makes sense. Let's just say I'm redefining pancakeSTACKER and continuing to "figure it all out." How's that?

What’s your name? Where do you live? What do you do? 

My name is Brandy Saldana and I live in Berkeley. I work at UC Berkeley as a Program Assistant for a Health & Safety Office and I blog about my personal style and cupcakes I decorate on my blog Will Bake for Shoes.

How did you get into blogging? 

I actually became interested in street style fashion blogs during my 2nd year at Cal after having my outfit noticed and photographed by you while I was waiting at a bus stop! I tossed around the idea of starting my own blog for a couple of years, but I held myself back and kept talking myself out of it. Once I graduated, I felt if I ever wanted to write for a magazine or website, I would need some experience and figured this would be a good way to get that type of experience and a bonus that I could be as creative as I wanted to be with it.

How would you describe your style? 

I am not really sure how to describe it sometimes because I feel I am still experimenting and discovering new things for myself. I like to be dressed appropriately for the occasion, but at the end of the day I really like girly, feminine pieces in fun, bold prints. I used to prefer dark colors, but I've noticed I am not afraid to rock bold hues.

In addition to blogging about fashion, you also write and share photos of cupcakes you’ve made. Can you tell us more about this?

My baking hobby started before my blog, and actually before my 3rd year of school. I found a Hello, Cupcake book at Target and started baking and decorating cupcakes with my sister. I really started getting into it when I moved into my studio and had a spacious and cute kitchen. I get a lot of my inspiration and ideas from that book, but I add my own spin on something I am decorating. The name of my blog comes from a cup I labeled “Will Bake for Shoes” that I placed next to marshmallow flower cupcakes I brought in to work as a joke that donations would go towards a pair of new Manolo Blahniks, and it was just something I would do to practice decorating and to pay for more baking supplies with the goal of becoming skilled enough to open up a family business. I still think that is a possibility, but for now I enjoy it as a hobby and sharing what I make.

What have you learned from blogging? 

By blogging, I've learned a lot about myself and how much I've changed, which I did not expect when I initially started out. I've also learned it is one of the best ways to put yourself out there to meet people. I've made a lot of friends by connecting with other bloggers, and that's been my favorite perk that comes from all the work. It takes a lot of work to run a blog, and that includes networking and community.

How has blogging changed since you started three years ago? 

I think the biggest thing I've noticed was the impact of having a social media presence for your blog and micro-blogging. I started out and never placed importance on Twitter or Instagram, but eventually came around and started using these mediums. It's been a fun learning experience, but I have yet to embrace Snapchat and it is probably because I already feel overwhelmed by all the Social Media apps there are already.

What can we expect to see from you in the future? 

I know I want to be able to share more cupcake projects, but maybe I'll be going a step further and focusing more on tutorials. I am also interested in doing more DIY Crafts and potentially start sharing my favorite restaurants. The possibilities are endless, but my goal is to keep things interesting!

Where do you live? What do you do at Google?

I live in San Francisco. I am a Strategic Partner Manager for Google Shopping.

How would you describe your style?

As a young adult, I spent a lot of time in New York City and was constantly inspired by its fashion culture and great designers. Today, my wardrobe is a reflection of the feminine, chic, and edgy styles of NYC - although it is gently balanced with the relaxed vibes of California.

What's your typical work outfit look like?

I love to wear dresses in the spring and summer, albeit with a light jacket to brave the San Francisco summer. For fall and winter, I wear skinny jeans with silk blouses and blazers.

How do you upgrade a typical work outfit?

A well-fitted blazer always adds a bit of credibility. Statement jewelry also has the ability to enhance a casual look.
