Cock-A-Doodle Cafe is an excellent brunch spot located on Washington Street between 7th and 8th Streets in Old Oakland.
When visiting this weekend I tried Blanca's Fried Egg Sandwich with Applewood-smoked bacon, chipotle aioli, mozzarella, lettuce, and tomato. It was quite good. The egg was perfectly fried and the ingredients were fresh. The chipotle aioli gave the sandwich a nice flavor that tied everything together.
It's surrounded by the beautiful old Victorians the neighborhood is known for. There's The Bookmark bookshop next door and a sleek new Cookiebar ice cream shop around the corner.
