I've visited Xochi the Dog, Cafe — a sleek cafe located on the corner of E. 21st Street and 11th Avenue in East Oakland — a couple times for coffee and lunch.
On my recent visit in late May, we ordered a combination of what we usually get: a latte for me, a cappuccino for my dining companion, and a Xochi Sando, Carne Empanada, and Samosas to share. Beyond the perfectly made coffee, I like the varied selection of food that can be enjoyed in the cozy interior or outside in the breezy back patio. We've tried a few of the sandwiches and enjoyed them all; this one is made with sourdough, turkey, salami, havarti, coleslaw medley, and dijon mustard. The empanada had a warm, delicious filling and was made with ground beef, onions, hard boiled egg, green olives, and a blend of spices. The Samosas were made with potato, peas, and a blend of spices, as expected.
I will definitely be visiting Xochi the Dog, Cafe the next time I'm looking for a casual weekend lunch in the area. If you've been to this cafe, what would you recommend trying?
