Eat in San Francisco: The Mill (Pt. 2)

Veggie Pizza Special of the Week: sungold cherry tomatoes, housemade cayene, hot honey, and basil

In mid August, I visited The Mill — a popular coffee shop on Divisadero between Grove and Fulton in NoPa — probably for the first time since reviewing them in 2014. They're known for their sourdough bread made by Josey Baker and their Four Barrel coffee. I learned recently that they also have a stellar pizza night on Mondays from 5 to 8pm, where they serve up two pizza options (cheese and the veggie pizza special of the week) and a salad.

When I stopped by with my dining companion and a friend, we got the veggie special and the salad. The special — made with sungold cherry tomatoes, housemade cayene, hot honey, and basil — was quite good. Beyond being photogenic, all of the ingredients were fresh and complemented each other perfectly, while the sourdough crust was the right amount of chewy. The salad, which I didn't photograph, was made with butter lettuce, cantaloupe, watermelon, sweet peppers, and balsamic vinaigrette. I'm not really a fan of fruit in salad, so this wasn't my favorite.

I would definitely stop by The Mill for pizza night the next time I'm in the area on a Monday. I'm not sure if the special is posted ahead of time, but I bet it will be as good every time.
