Eat in Los Angeles: The Rose Venice

Huevos Rancheros made with Rancho Gordo beans, cotija, salsa verde, avocado, and red onion

A couple weeks ago, I finally visited The Rose Venice, a hip cafe and restaurant located on Rose right off Main in Venice. Given that this cafe is found in coastal Los Angeles, I expected a charming, rundown place beloved by local beach bums. Instead, The Rose represents the new, bougier Venice, the one where tech has brought in money and raised rents. Its beautifully designed space has seating inside and out, and is quite spacious. (It reminded me of Gjusta, the über-cool bakery also in the area.)

Following my friend's recommendation, I ordered the Huevos Rancheros made with Rancho Gordo beans, cotija, salsa verde, avocado, and red onion. Besides being quite photogenic, it also tasted great and was pretty filling. I tried a latte, which was prepared perfectly.

The next time I stop by I want to try either The Jenny Lea (two biscuits and fried eggs) or the Hearth Baked Shakshouka. If you've visited The Rose Venice recently, what do you recommend trying?
