Eat in Oakland: Haddon Hill Cafe

Guava Croissant

Khachapuri

A couple weeks ago I visited Haddon Hill Cafe, a neighborhood coffee and pastry shop on Wesley and Brooklyn in East Oakland, for the second time.

Like on my first visit, I had an impeccably made latte along with a few pastries: a croissant with guava filling and a khachapuri with an egg and cheese on top. The croissant featured layers of buttery goodness with a sweet guava filling. However, the star of the meal was the khachapuri made with flavorful parmesan, a fried egg, and beautifully baked dough—no wonder, they're owned by the folks slinging pizzas at Leaning Tower down the street. Talk about the perfect start to your day.

The next time I stop by, I'll order another of their inventive pastries along with a cappuccino. If you've visited Haddon Hill Cafe recently, what do you recommend trying?
