Mutter Paneer: Indian cottage cheese and green peas in a savory sauce, with rice and garlic naan
Masala Dosa: crispy crepe with mildly spiced mash potato filling
Vegetable Samosa filled with mashed potatoes and peas
I caught up with a good friend at Mayura Indian Restaurant, a South Indian restaurant on Venice and Motor in Culver City, earlier this month.
I ordered the Masala Dosa, a crispy crepe with mildly spiced mash potato filling. My friend got the Mutter Paneer, which features paneer (Indian cottage cheese) and green peas in a savory sauce, rice on the side, and an order of garlic naan. We also split the Vegetable Samosas, filled with the usual mashed potatoes and peas. Everything was as good as it looks. It was clear they put a lot of care into their work and technique, as seen in everything from using fresh ingredients to the beautiful textures of the crispy samosa and the crispy dosa they create. They also had superb service to boot.
I think I found my new favorite Indian spot in Los Angeles. If you've visited Mayura Indian Restaurant recently, what do you recommend trying?
