Plaid. Lace-up. Rain boots. Who would have thought there was a preppy way to fill the rain boot hole in my heart? More like, who knew there was a hole that would be filled by something as boring as rain boots. Well there is and, boy, has this girl found the cure!
I’m not sure why, but this girl’s pea coat reminds me of something Willy Wonka would wear. Maybe it’s the playful colors or the diamond pattern. Either way, this girl knows how to put together an interesting outfit. Just look at her colorful specs and metallic loafers.
What I like about this girl’s outfit is her multi-colored cropped top. A product of her mother’s trip to Guatemala in the 1970’s, this multi-patterned embroidered wonder was created by the indigenous people who lived in this region that was previously occupied by the Mayans.
Details meaning the accessories. This lady has dressed up her shiny, elongated windbreaker-style jacket with an interesting yellow scarf, a beautiful pair of cut-out heels, and a stunning red textured bag from Coach.
This blog has reached a bit of a milestone. No, I’m not talking about how I reached my goal of getting 100 feed subscribers (BTW: can I get a big ol’ Y-A-Y?!) or how the blog has 50 Facebook fans. What’s the milestone, you ask? Well, this girl -- who is sporting a comfy, patterned sweater and some stellar flapped-over lace-up boots -- told me she actually heard about the blog before I took her photo. My response: !!!
Minty green and beige collide in this guy’s sleek ensemble. To top it off, he’s added a clever pair of glasses and some gold kicks to add to ourcollection.
This is what I love about street fashion -- like Forrest Gump and his box of chocolates, you never know what you’re gonna get, or, in this case, find. These wedged beauties are a case in point; they’re a completely unexpected find, yet I’m so so glad they walked on by.
As I mentioned in my last post, BARE Magazine celebrated completing its sixth issue with a launch party at Henry's Restaurant at Hotel Durant. Here are more shots I took of the party-goers in action.

Last Thursday, I attended BARE Magazine's Issue 6 Launch Party at Henry's Restaurant at Hotel Durant. As expected, it was a night of glitz, glam, and, of course, amazing outfits. With my new Canon Rebel in hand, I became an impromptu photographer for the event. Here are some of the shots I got of the party-goers.
Want a piece of the action? Order your copy of the issue here. Stay tuned for more photos from the party.
Lo and behold, it’s the Assistant Creative Director of BARE Magazine! Decked out in a furry gray scarf, black leather fingerless gloves, and a pair of metallic Doc Martens I’ve been dying to photograph, this guy certainly does not fear dipping into either end of the monochromatic spectrum.
Do you hear that? It sounds like Finnish folk music. Yep, Hel-Looks is calling: they want to know where this girl got her massive scarf. Although she's not from the Finnish capital, she clearly knows how to fight off the winter chills in style. Look no farther than her neutral to black ensemble and her palm tree earring for inspiration.
Don't worry, you don't need to rush over to your OD, asking him to check your eyesight: this girl was actually spotted in Berkeley. (See Sather Gate in the background?) As was her animal-print patterned fur coat. I'd say that seeing such beautiful outerwear is almost worth the chilly winter weather.. almost.
I'm not sure about this girl's mom, but her sweater is so Berkeley. Why I bring up the child- bearer, you ask? This is why. None other than a Facebook group decided to sharing why "Your Mom is So Berkeley." Social-networking fun fest aside, this girl has connected with her Berkeleyan roots by choosing a multi-patterned hoodie in place of the ubiquitous American Apparel version. The Academy drinks her organic, shade grown, fair trade coffee in approval.
I'd like to begin this post with the words of the Laney Boggs, Rachel Leigh Cook's artistically-talented though socially-isolating character in the 1999 super-classic teenage rom-com She's All That: I really broke out the big guns with that one (skip to 5:34 - 7:16 for the theatrical magic). "That one" being my use of 中文 (Mandarin Chinese) in the title. I can assure you I have my reasons for going bilingual: (1) I got to use the "bow" tag for this post and (2) this is post #100! Snazzed up to celebrate this wonderful cyber-event, this girl has even pulled out the big guns herself: a fur-collared coat delicately covering her dress underneath and an eye-catching bow headband.
Ladies and gents, I'd like to ask you for a drum roll (or, a keyboard tapping, rather) for our next guest: the Managing Editor of BARE Magazine. True to his position in the fashion-oriented publication, he has added a clever necklace to accentuate his already sharp look. I give the outfit an FT for Fab-tabulous.
